CTBF Junior Baseball 2025 Season: Building Zones, Building Baseball
The 2025 Cape Town Baseball Federation (CTBF) Junior season is ready to launch — and this year promises to be bigger, better, and more connected than ever before.
For the first time, our junior leagues will kick off with 4 zonal structure, designed to grow the game at grassroots level while strengthening the communities that support it.
Four Zones, One Goal
The season will begin with four zones:
- South Zone: Silvertree, Thistle, Ocean View, Grassy Park, Fishhoek
- East Zone: Khayelitsha, Kuilsrivier, Westridge, Helderberg
- Central Zone: Athlone, Battswood, Lansdowne, VOB
- North Zone: Dunoon, Bothasig, Maitland, Bellville, Durbanville
Each zone will see 10U, 12U, and 15U teams play multiple rounds over nine weeks of exciting baseball action.
This setup is designed to:
- Limit travel for families and players
- Encourage communities to grow together through sport
- Encourage clubs to development and host baseball clinics hosted by clubs in their zones
- Strengthen zones while providing fair, consistent competition
- Clubs within Zones can coordinate centralized venues, Friday Night Light games, week night games and more
All-Star Week (ASW)
A major highlight of the 2025 season is the inclusion of junior baseball in the All-Star Week (ASW).
This special weekend will bring together talent from every zone, showcasing all divisions of baseball at one venue. It’s not only about competition — it’s about celebrating the players, the clubs, and the growth of our sport.
The Road to the Championship
Once the zonal rounds are complete, the stakes get higher.
- The top two clubs from each zone will qualify for the Championship Round.
- These eight teams will face off in a one-round series, followed by semi-finals and then the Finals Weekend.
This is where the best of the best will battle it out for the ultimate junior crown.
More Baseball for Everyone
For clubs that don’t make the Championship Round, the journey doesn’t end there.
Remaining teams will continue in divisional play:
- North/East Division (5 clubs)
- South/Central Division (5 clubs)
These divisions will play a double round, ensuring every player has the opportunity to continue learning, developing, and competing.
Why This Matters
The new format is more than just a schedule — it’s a commitment to growth and development. By limiting travel, creating zonal rivalries, and ensuring all players get maximum opportunities to play, CTBF is laying the foundation for stronger clubs, better competition, and a brighter future for Cape Town baseball.
Final Word
From October to December 2025, junior baseball will be alive across Cape Town. With the zonal format, All-Star Week, and a clear path to the Championship, there’s something for everyone — players, parents, and fans alike.
Together, we’re building the future of baseball, one zone at a time.
Let’s play ball! ⚾
